{ CASE STUDY }
A Bristol mover that had spent five years going nowhere on Google, sitting on pages four to seven for the searches that bring in house moves. We built out the pages that told Google what the business actually does, then refreshed the site so it was easier to use. Within five months the Bristol terms had reached the edge of page one, and within twelve every one of them was in the top ten.

The work
{ THE CHALLENGE }
Five years of drift
Move On had been working on their Google rankings for five years and were still on pages four to seven for the searches that bring in Bristol house moves: removals Bristol sat 42nd, removal company Bristol 48th, Bristol movers 65th. The site was not invisible. It was pointed in the wrong direction. Nobody had told Google what the business wanted to rank for, so Google decided for itself, and the strongest rankings were for piano moves, work the team was not chasing. That is what undirected SEO does. It does not stand still, it drifts. The previous work had been done without any understanding of how removals customers search, and the pages that should have carried the business, Bristol removals, house moves, office moves, were nowhere.
{ WHAT WE DID }
Direction first, then a site that converts
The SEO strategy came first. We built out the pages the business had never had, each written for the way Bristol customers actually search: house removals in Bristol, office and commercial moves, self storage, a premium moving service, student moves, and location pages for Bristol, Clifton and Bath. Titles, headings and internal links all pointed at the same set of Bristol terms, and technical clean-up meant Google could read the site without guessing. That gave the site a direction, and Google followed it. The commercial page was optimised early because office moves carry the biggest tickets. Once the right pages existed we refreshed the site itself, not a rebuild but a proper tidy: clearer structure, quicker routes to a quote, trust signals where a visitor looks for them. The refresh made the site much easier to use, and the enquiries improved with it.
If you are not telling Google what you want to rank for, Google decides for you, and it usually decides wrong.

{ THE RESULTS }
From page five to the top ten in twelve months
The commercial page was one of the first to be optimised, and it brought in two office-move enquiries the week it went live, one of which closed at £3,000. Richard's review, written four months in, is on this page in his own words. The position data tells the story month by month. At the start, removals Bristol sat 42nd, removal company Bristol 48th, removal companies Bristol 53rd and Bristol movers 65th, pages four to seven of Google. By month five they were 20th, 11th, 16th and 15th, page two and the edge of page one. By month twelve every one of them was in the top ten, 7th, 7th, 6th and 6th, with home removals Bristol at 5th. By month twelve, every search a Bristol customer actually types brought up Move On on page one. Those are rankings the business owns, not enquiries it rents from a comparison site.
Positions from Semrush, Google UK, at month one, month five and month twelve of the work.
